There's an August, 2005,
article I hadn't seen before on the effects of digital signage on in-store sales.
Here are some quotes:
According to a Digital Signage Summit held by the
Strategy Institute in New York City this spring, in-store broadcasting
can boost sales of new products advertised in stores by between 30% and
300%, increase store revenues by 30%, and reduce customers’ perceived
waiting time by 15%.
And a little later in the piece:
The typical product advertisement on the BassPro network, according to
Gerba, “gets a lift of between 18% and 20%, and, on some,” he says,
“sales spike in excess of 200% to 300%.” According to a published
report, when CompUSA’s in-store network included advertising, sales of
the advertised products averaged 29% above sales in stores that did not
show the ad.
I would love to find some other concrete data on the sales uplift that results from digital signage.
